Description

Navajo Creation Chants sung by the Son of Bead Chant Singer. Cambridge, Mass, Peabody Museum of Harvard University, 1950, Hoijer, Harry, Museum of Navajo Ceremonial Art. This is the original set of five analog 10 inch 78rpm recordings in original case and pamphlet. Field recordings by David P. McAllester, duplicating repertory recorded on wax cylinders in 1929 by Harry Hoijer, Dr. George Herzog and Fr. Berard Haile. Recorded in Arizona for the Museum of Navajo Ceremonial Art, Santa Fe, N.M., in the fall of 1950. English versions of the texts (including some not recorded) by Harry Hoijer, analytical notes by Mary C. Wheelwright and notes on the music by David P. McAllester (44 p.). All five albums in near mint condition, I can see no signs of handling or wear. The case is in very good condition with some wear to the corners but solid and presentable. The pamphlet is in very good+ condition, very clean and totally unmarked. Will be carefully wrapped and boxed for shipping- your satisfaction is very important to me!
