Description

This pressing of Nick Drake, Bryter Layter, was given to me around 1970 by John .............? unfortunately I can't remember his surname, but I believe he was either a director or even managing director of Island Records.

At the time I was working for Kenning Car Hire, Birmingham, he would rent a car from us quite often and I always made sure he got wot he wanted, usually an MGB or MGC. He would park his van full of records in our car park over the weekend. Occassionally he would tip me for the service, always with a record. I remember thinking, who is Nick Drake, it must have been obvious to him that I had not heard of Nick Drake, because he said you may not know him now, but he is very talented and will go places. Well, he was not really to my taste, hence I have only played it about half a dozen times.

I had no idea of the value of this record until I noticed item no. 4072037427, where the current bid is over £100. On checking my copy I found identical numbers etc.

           Outer Printed Sleeve:- Excellent, minor scuff marks on top & bottom edges.

            Inner Sleeve:- Is White but does have some yellowing around the outside edges.

As I only have a very old Ferguson record deck, I will not attempt to play it for fear of damaging it, so I can't say what it sounds like, the last time it was played would be around ten years ago, but the vinyl looks great.
