Love’s Gone Bad  b/w Put Yourself InMy Place

Tamla Motown 591, 1966

Chris Clark was one of a very small number of white artists to be recorded by Motown and among an even smaller number whose recordings are considered to have been a success.  Her recording career was short-lived and included only a handful of singles and a couple of albums, Soul Sounds and C.C. Rides Again.  Most of her U.S. releases were on the V.I.P. label.

Love’s Gone Bad – a Holland-Dozier-Holland composition - has always been very popular on the Northern Soul scene.  It is one of the hardest of British Motown singles to track down.  This example has a lot of surface marks and scuffing – the more so to the B-side – but it plays perfectly acceptably with a nice clear sound and no significant pops or clicks.  As you can see from the photos, there is an some surface loss to the label on the B-side where a label has been torn off in the past.  A name has subsequently been written on this area.
