The Maytals

 

Up for auction is Never Grow Old, Presenting The Maytals (JBL 1113). Produced by C. S. Dodd, this 1964 release was The Maytals first album. Frederick Hibbert, the lead singer of the trio, was 19 years old. Backing includes Lloyd Brevett (bass), Lloyd Knibb (drums), Ernest Ranglin (guitar), Roland Alphonso & Dennis Campbell & Don Drummond & Tommy McCook & Johnny Moore (horns) and Jackie Mittoo (keyboards). Made in Jamaica, the wax jacket is silk screened. Matrices read: R&B ELJ 1113 A 1H/ R&B ELJ 1113 B 1H. The record was kept in a poly-lined inner sleeve and the jacket in a poly outer sleeve. The jacket and record are both rated Excellent.
