The Albums:
LIVE AT THE FILLMORE EAST
The long-anticipated first live release from Neil Young’s personal archives, 1970's Live at the Fillmore East also happened to feature Miles Davis on the same bill no less and was only heard on various bootleg versions before this release. On tour in support of the album Everyone Knows This Is Nowhere, the recording features Young backed by Crazy Horse (with original leader Danny Whitten) plus renowned arranger and future collaborator, the late Jack Nitzsche on piano.
Staples such as “Down By The River,” “Cowgirl In The Sand” and “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere” get the full on stretched out treatment that Young’s shows would become known for.
SUGAR MOUNTAIN-LIVE AT CANTERBURY HOUSE
This 2-LP set is the third installment in the critically acclaimed Neil Young Archives and captures a solo/acoustic performance of one of the greatest singer-songwriters in rock history at the height of one of the most tumultuous and creative periods ever experienced both in music and culture. A more intimate live portrayal of solo Neil Young doesn't exist. Recorded on a TEAC 2-track tape recorder at Canterbury House on November 9-10, 1968, Sugar Mountain: Live At Canterbury House 1968 is, for all intents and purposes, the start of the iconic singer-songwriter's solo career. Armed with just an acoustic guitar and his voice, Young charms an intimate crowd on his own terms with renditions of many now-classic songs that hadn't yet even been released.
This special vinyl package features 2, 180-gram ultra heavyweight black-vinyl discs and is housed in a paper-wrapped Stoughton gatefold jacket.
