An original 1st press on UK Island from '69. Matrix A2/B2. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold 1st issue cover.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg) In nice condition and has only seen light to moderate use. An odd grading I'll grant you..but read on. Under close inspection the record is generally in very nice order with clean surface. However, track 3 on side 2 - someone's been careless and has performed what looks like a couple of heavy needle drops. So, you're going to have be someone who can see past that [detail below]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly NEAREXCELLENT level of playback, but with noticeable deviation in one track, and minor deviation in a couple of others. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. The Hoople have got it all turned up to 11 and they mean business. Wasn't enough for folks to take notice for some reason - it would take Bowie's intervention a couple of years later before they crossed over into the mainstream with ATYD's. As I mention above this LP plays great - predominantly. Very addictive and relatively clean feed for large parts. There is one noticeable issue in HALF MOON BABY. A couple of noticeable marks are causing issue. Expect a good few clicks in this track and 3-4 pops. THIS TRACK IS SUB-PAR.... You must understand and take this onboard before purchasing - otherwise it will lead to disappointment. It plays through the track ok. Overall a great player with nothing else other than a bit of light background in 'Laugh At Me' & 'Backslide'. GREAT providing you can live with the issues in that one track.
Cover (Vg+) Really nice clean surfaces without much sign of wear or creasing at all. The interior looks superb. A fair bit of edge wear, but no wear-through. Spine fully intact with some ageing. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
