Description

The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.
I accept returns and offer a full refund if you are not happy with your purchase.

Morrissey - 'Vauxhall And I' UK Vinyl LP - 1994

Catalogue No. PCSD 148 - Parlophone Records

This original 1994 vinyl pressing of 'Vauxhall And I' was ranked at Number 45 in the 2009 'Morrissey Top 50 Rarities' Record Collector article. The huge appeal of this vinyl LP to collectors was described at the time, in which it was suggested that the album "has been hailed by many as the most important work of his solo career". Part of the reason for its appearance in this highly collectable list is undoubtedly due to the relatively low sales of vinyl by that time, which would have meant relatively few pressings in comparison to the CD format. In addition, the sheer popularity of the album itself has also increased its rarity as copies of the LP are bought up by collectors and fans wishing to hear the tracks on vinyl. The record is very nicely packaged, with a glossy lyric/picture inner sleeve and a gatefold outer sleeve which opens to reveal a double-spread picture of Morrissey (see photo). This example is complete in that it comes with its original inner lyric sleeve, which is sometimes missing from copies seen offered for sale. While there is some moderate wear to the LP sleeves (see below), the vinyl itself plays extremely well; listening to this record reminds the listener just how good this album really is, and how great it sounds on vinyl!

The thick heavyweight vinyl and labels are in strong excellent condition, remaining glossy and having been very well looked after. Although it has been played, it is clear that the record has been preserved extremely well; the vinyl is bright and glossy, with barely any superficial surface marks on the vinyl even when held to the light. There are no significant marks or scratches which would affect the playback of the tracks. The outer gatefold sleeve is in excellent condition, with some mild wear at the edges and corners in a few places. There is one region on the reverse, in the top left corner, where there is a very small tear at the sleeve opening, which is not particularly noticeable (see photo). Overall, the gatefold sleeve looks very impressive and there is no seam-splitting in any of the edges. The picture/lyric inner sleeve is in very good condition, with no seam-splitting but with one region where there is a faint blue pen mark on the inner sleeve (see photo) and a region nearby where the surface has been scratched (see photo). These small imperfections and signs of wear do not, I would say, overly spoil the general impression of this rare LP and I have shown clearly in the photos the extent of the wear; the record itself is very well presented and plays superbly. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.

All my auctions start at 1P and have NO RESERVE. They are all 100% genuine, original versions. Some are in mint/new condition and some are used; all will go to the highest bidder. I offer a money-back guarantee if anything is described incorrectly. Postage and Packing is 3.20 in the UK for untracked and uninsured standard postage, this is subsidised by myself and the actual costs to me will usually be higher. Please do consider paying the extra 70p for tracked postage since there is nothing that can be done to find out what happened if the parcel is lost when standard postage is chosen. Shipping costs are greater for overseas buyers, but still subsidised and very good value; please check prices by using the options above or feel free to ask. Extra items are sent at no extra postage charge to the buyer (see below). I always take great care to package items well with strong mailing materials.

See my other auctions for related rare items here. If multiple auctions are won at the same time (within a week), I will charge only the postage cost for the heaviest item and pay the remainder myself. This is the case wherever you live. If you are planning to bid, but cannot be around at the end of the auction, I have found this free site to be useful; note that I am not affiliated with the site in any way!
