Mike Westbrook Concert Band - Release LP - Deram Stereo This is a fabulous record, it's where big band meets free jazz - it's got actual tunes, goes off for a bit of experimentation and then comes swinging back.
It's also pretty rare. I had one of these in mono earlier this year so I've now heard both and I'm in no doubt that stereo sounds better. Mono might have a bit more oomph but stereo has way more presence.
The vinyl is a strong Excellent, I played (and thoroughly enjoyed) both sides and it really sounds great. The sleeve isn't quite so good, it has blunted corners, creases in the laminate and some marks on the back. I'd say it's VG, VG+ at a push.
More interesting jazz, plus some blues in my other items.
Due to eBay's stupid new postage rules I've had to increase the start price of my records - this is good for international customers because I've been able to discount your shipping but I can't reduce it if you buy more.
Three or more records will be sent Registered at no extra cost to you though.
Like many of the records I'm selling today this came from the large collection of a busy man now aged 60. Due to the size of his collection many of the LPs were only played once or twice from new - some were never played and they were all properly looked after. His musical taste was towards the avant garde/free end of the jazz spectrum. I will be selling selected records from his collection over the next few years so please add me to your favourites list!
