Description

A 16-year-old Karen Carpenter sings background vocals on this 1966 45 RPM record by Mickey Jones and The Triumphs on Magic Lamp Records. Karen Carpenter sings in her FALSETTO voice and so, of course, in that high a pitch it doesn't sound like the voice we all know and love. But it's Karen Carpenter and I've seen this 45 sell on eBay the last 15 years for $400 to $600.
The artist, Mickey Jones, made this statement about the rare record:
"My first experience as a recording artist came along thanks to Joe Osborn. I recorded my first record in Joe's little garage studio. Joe formed his own record label called Magic Lamp Records. My first record was "I Can Live Without You" written by Larry Knectel from the great group Bread. I had a girl back-up singer on that record that Joe had found in Downey, California, named Karen Carpenter. This little girl could sing. Her brother Richard played piano, but was a little too bossy for Joe. So he made Richard stay out of the studio while he recorded Karen."
Jim Messina of Loggins and Messina plays guitar on "I Can Live Without You."  
The "B" side of this 53-year-old record is a song called "I Thought I Could."
I own over 30+ Magic Lamp singles and this is the first Magic Lamp 45 in 38 years that I have seen with a drill hole. That's interesting.
I am unable to play the record and give it a grading. Visually it looks to be in good condition, if not very good condition. So, please, look at the pictures and judge for yourself as there are NO RETURNS on this item. This 1966 record I being sold as is.
