Description
This album, Merry Christmas with Gene Autry, is a rare 33 1/3 RPM, 10" LP (not a 12") from the Columbia Records House Party Series that has never been opened and is still factory sealed. Columbia Records issued quite a few of these House Party Series albums by many artists during 1955 and 1956. On these albums, the House Party logo appeared in the upper left corner on the front cover. Apparently, this particular Gene Autry House Party album CL 2547 was issued in December 1955. On the back cover it lists this album number as the last number in an advertisement of 21 House Party albums. At the time that this album was released, Gene Autry was still recording Christmas songs for Columbia Records and by the time 1956 had ended, he had completed all of his 27 Columbia Christmas songs. (In the next few years he would record others for his own label.) This album includes original versions of the two biggest selling Christmas songs of his career: Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer and Here Comes Santa Claus. Also included are: Frosty The Snow Man, When Santa Claus Gets Your Letter, An Old-Fashioned Tree, and If It Doesn't Snow On Christmas. The record itself inside the jacket has to be in new condition since it has never been opened or removed. There are some scuff rubbings and a slight tanning to the cover and the original plastic shrink-wrap.
