Description

Up for auction is a beautiful STEREO copy of "Meet The Beatles", Capitol Records' first Beatles LP, ST-2047, in amazing Near Mint Minus condition, with the original blue inner sleeve!  This is an East Coast copy, pressed at the Scranton, PA factory (RIAA #2) in early 1964. It features the 3rd label variation concerning Publishing credits:  All songs are assigned to ASCAP, except for 'I Want To Hold Your Hand', 'I Saw Her Standing There', and 'I Wanna Be Your Man', which are credited to BMI.  The back cover DOES NOT have the "Produced by George Martin" credit, and DOES have the "Stereo Needle Damage" print along the bottom.

Also this is the much more scarce STEREO version of "Meet The Beatles".  It's estimated that, of all Capitol Records Beatles LP's pressed in the U.S. before 1966, roughly 15% were in STEREO.  So an early stereo Beatles record in ANY condition is very rare, and quite a piece of Rock History, but to see a copy in this beautiful condition is truly a GEM!

The vinyl is an amazing NM-: glossy, clean, without a scratch or smudge on either side.  The playback quality is full, with a light pop every once in a while, seamless playback.  It's obvious this record was very well taken care of!  The labels are pristine, glossy, and free of spindle wear!

The cover is an original East Coast #2 cover that matches the vinyl in quality.  I "see-saw" between a NM- and VG++ rating.  I hope the pictures I took do it some justice!  The front shows the smallest hint of ringwear.  The colors are full, and the whites are WHITE!  The front slick is perfect along the edges and the 4 corners, like it was applied yesterday.  Every seam is 100% solid, without sign of wear at all.  The spine is clear and continuous top to bottom, aside from a 4mm scuff right at the bottom corner.  The back shows no signs of wear, VERY slight signs of yellowing around some outer areas, and the print is dark and crystal clear.

The original blue Capitol inner sleeve is in great shape, solid opening, full of color, and no seam splits or seam wear AT ALL!

If you want a high-end, quality, complete, collectible, rare Beatles item, DON'T LET THIS PASS YOU BY!  These early Beatles stereo records are disappearing one by one.  Now's your chance to grab one!
