This auction is for a 2x LP, limited edition, unofficial re-release of Marilyn Manson’s ‘Portrait Of An American Family’ from 1994 on purple vinyl.

This release is mint and sealed in it’s original packaging.

This release includes the entirety of ‘Portrait Of An American Family’, as well as 11 bonus tracks including demos & rehearsals from 1993, and ‘The Family Jams’ self-released cassette from 1992.

Portrait of an American Family is the debut full-length studio album by American rock band Marilyn Manson, released on July 19, 1994 in the US through Nothing and Interscope. 

Throughout the LP, Manson attacks America’s hypocritical, self-righteous, talk-show culture with startling wit and accuracy. These themes, combined with somewhat disjointed, groovy, rock riffage, eerie samples, and creepy keyboards, made this album a wakeup call to America’s ‘selective judgements’ and ‘good-buy badges’.

Manson, with the support of Trent Reznor and his label Nothing, struck a chord with America’s youth with Portrait of an American Family. With the singles “Get Your Gunn,” “Lunchbox” and “Dope Hat” driving the record, Portrait of an American Family retained a loyal fan base and went on to go gold.

Portrait of an American Family (Pre-Reznor Mix) was intended to be Marilyn Manson's first studio album and is a precursor to what we now know as Portrait of an American Family. It is comprised of the original takes and alternate mixes of songs that would later be found on the band's debut; however, the band was not satisfied with the output of these recording sessions and shelved the album for a short time.

The Family Jams is the first cassette released by Marilyn Manson, recorded in live warehouse sessions during 1991 and 1992 on a TASCAM Port-one 4-track recorder, and was produced and mixed by Daisy Berkowitz. The cassette was titled after ‘The Family Jams’ album written by American serial killer Charles Manson, and recorded by the infamous Manson Family in 1970.
