Mamas and the Papas Autographs Signatures Mama Cass Elliot John Michelle Phillip Dennie Doherty
So this came from a huge haul of a massive long time roadie. He lived in the San Francisco area for the better part of the late 1960s. More of an unofficial roadie, more of a local helping hand. I got a whole bunch of signatures on covers from this gentleman when I purchased his record collection. Story goes, he partied pretty hard with these cats, alongside members of the Grateful Dead and Moby Grape. Not necessarily at the same time, same house, same party, but during the same years of Summer of Love and what have you. This is a special album because it's actually signed twice by Mama Cass. Once on the front alongside all her bandmates, and once on the back of the cover as a lone signature. This was very very early in their career when they signed this. Prior to any notoriety or fame outside the Los Angeles / San Francisco area. While touring the San Fran area, or the gentleman heading towards the LA area (drugs took a part of lack of memory), he had the band sign this album. He had Mama Cass sign twice, because she signed back cover first, then head others sign front. He got her again, same night, to sign the front, so everyone would be on the same side (for a frame job later). Please see all pictures to get a better view of all the signatures. This helps to view the intersections of pen lines (over under in cursive), and the speed or lack of speed, in which it was signed. I'll be listing a lot more signature albums over the next few months. Mostly came from his massive record collection.
To me the record and the respective grade, are negligent to the cover. The cover is VG, with the signatures lowering the grade to some. All spines intact, and some minor corner bumps.
