Up for auction is a rare 1928 78 by Ma Rainey And Her Tub Jug Washboard Band on Paramount label # 12668.Electrically Recorded 78.This is an original 1928 78 and was recorded in June of 1928 in Chicago,Illinois.Two great legendary songs on this one.Has Prove it To Me Blues on one side and has Hear Me Talking To You on the other side.She is accompanied by Thomas A Dorsey better known as Georgia Tom on this record.Also has Herman Brown,Martell Pettiford,And Carl Reid.She has been called the Mother Of The Blues because she had influenced so many other old time Blues singers.Also one of the very first Blues singers ever.The Prove On Me Blues song is thought of by some as a bit controversial as she sings about liking women in the song instead of men.Not a bad looking 78 as most Paramount Blues 78s are totally worn out.This one has groove wear but still has some groove shine.Has some light and medium greyness on some of the grooves but still has some black on grooves also.The Hear Me Talking To You side has multiple light scratches with about a dozen scratches that can be felt with fingernail.Has some scuffing also.The Prove It On Me Blues side has multiple light scratches with about 13 scratches I can feel with fingernail.Also has some scuffing.There are 2 small ugly scuff spots that can be felt with fingernail.The 1 smaller one may be a groove dig as it is light white in color.The 2 spots are right on the same grooves and will probably cause a tick for 6 or 7 grooves.Also has a pretty noticeable warp but will not affect play at all.I did not try to play the 78 as I wanted as my record player has a bit of a worn needle at this time and I did not want to risk wearing the 78s grooves more.Both labels pretty nice with a few small nicks only.Both sides still retain groove shine even with the groove wear so the buyer should be happy as its a pretty nice looking 78 for a Blues Paramount.This is one of Ma Rainey's more Rare high numbered 78s.If the buyer is not 100% satisfied I have a return for refund as long as record is returned in the exact same condition.I will also try to add a few more pictures of the grooves if I can.
