Description
Here comes an ORIGINAL 1963 concert poster for the AMERICAN FOLK BLUES FESTIVAL, organized by Lippman & Rau. Featured Blues musicians were MUDDY WATERS, LONNIE JOHNSON, BIG JOE WILLIAMS, OTIS SPANN, WILLIE DIXON and more, see phtoos. This poster is for a concert at the VOLKSHAUS in Zurich/Switzerland on Wednesday, Oct. 2 1963 (see photo). The great design is from Lippman & Rau's house designer Günther Kieser and is one of THE BEST of his work.
This poster is HUGE and measures 82 X 118 centimeters.
CONDITION: The condition of this poster is used, it hung on the wall of a swiss blues collector for many years. It has several tears (the largest about 30cm, also pin holes. Some of the tears have been repaired on the back. I would grade this overall as VG- HOWEVER the poster looks still great, b/w colours intact and stunning overall view. If framed, this would look perfect, and the tears/old tape on back could be restored without problems.
It's rare to find the large format posters of the influential American Folk Blues Festivals and rare to see the venue printed to the poster.
