Description

WOW, WHEN I FIRST OBTAINED THIS COPY I WAS SO MESMORISED BY ITS CONDITION AND IT'S RARITY MY FIRST INSTINCT WAS TO KEEP IT.....

NOT ONLY IS IT A FULLY COMPLETE UK STEREO COPY IN STUNNING OVERALL CONDITION AND NOT FAR OFF NEAR MINT VINYL BUT ALSO WITH THE MUCH RARER AND HARDLY EVEN SEEN IN STEREO " WIDESPINE "  SLEEVE (  PICS ) BUT ALSO WITH IMPOSSIBLY EARLY MOTHER/STAMPERS OF 1L 1 A !!!

THIS PAST MONTH AN ALMOST IDENTICAL STEREO WIDESPINE  COPY WITH 1G 1A STAMPERS SOLD HERE FOR OVER G 900 !!! IF ANYBODY REQUIRES DETAILS OF THIS JUST EMAIL ME AND I WILL BE HAPPY TO PROVIDE THE EBAY LINK.

SO MUCH OF THAT LISTING COULD APPLY TO THIS COPY THAT I APOLOGISE IN ADVANCE FOR ANY PLAGERISM, THIS IS AN AMAZING CO-INCIDENCE AND I PROMISE YOU THAT YOU WILL STRUGGLE TO FIND ANY BETTER COPY OF SGT PEPPER LET ALONE A COPY OF THIS VERY RARE VARIANT ON EBAY ....L@@K...

FOR BIDDERS OUTSIDE UK THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT...  non uk bidders please read my notes about international postage below.....returns policy only applies to UK outside of UK buyer has to cover the return postage! FOR INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT due to ebays revised " buyer " protection policy even more sellers will start to refuse to sell internationally. I however will still sell internationally but i reserve the right to not to complete any international transaction if the buyer has any bad or witheld feedback or for any other reason that I choose and this is especially so for items that sell for near to GBP 150 or higher. So if you are an international bidder and win one of my auctions and then find I have completed the transaction elsewhere this will be because the new ebay/paypal policy now makes it almost impossible for sellers to sell safely overseas, thank you

FOR BIDDERS WITH ZERO FEEDBACK THIS IS ALSO VERY IMPORTANT...   I have recently been the victim of serveral spurious bids from several different members (usually based in the Russian Federation). Please note that if you win any of my items and have zero feedback I will ask you for immediate payment or for you to email and immediately confirm that you were a genuine bidder. Failiure to meet either of those critiera will result in the item being  offered to the next highest bidder without further delay. thank you.

ANYBODY WHO HAS TRAWLED THE INTERNET AND BOUGHT WHAT THEY HAD THOUGHT LOOKED LIKE A FABULOUS COPY OF THIS LP ONLY TO BE DISSAPOINTED TIME AND TIME AGAIN UPON IT'S ARRIVAL WILL KNOW WHERE I AM COMMING FROM....

FOR SOME REASON ( PROBABLY BECAUSE OF THE GROUNDBREAKING LACK OF TRACK BANDING ) THESE EARLY PEPPERS UPON CLOSE INSPECTION APPEAR DULLED WITH MANY SURFACE / BAG REMOVAL   MARKS. ALSO THE EARLIER FLIPBACK SLEEVES SEEM TO SURVIVE BADLY, ESPECIALLY AT THE SPINE SO IT IS SUCH A JOY TO KNOW THAT WITH THIS COPY YOU ARE GUARENTEED NOT TO BE DISSAPOINTED ... NOT ENOUGH THOUGH THAT THIS COPY IS IN SUCH AMAZING CONDITION AND IS FULLY COMPLETE WITH BOTH AN AMAZINGLY UNSPLIT " FOOL INNER " AND NMINT INSERT BUT THIS COPY HAS THREE PARTICULARLY EXTRA SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES....

< FONT>

FIRSTLY this copy comes in the almost legendary ‘Wide Spine Cover’ variant and in the most sensational of conditions. This spine is almost DOUBLE the thickness of a standard Pepper spine. Not only that, this one has survived since 1967 in stunning condition, totally uncrushed or flattened, bolt upright and erect and NOT rammed back into shape. The problem with these widespines was apparently storage. I understand EMI received many complaints from record shops about the width of these spines and so were forced to make a change very early on in the print run and replace these widespines with ones with the more familar thin spines.

Only a small number of these widespines were therefore ever printed but because of the higher demand for mono's in 1967 most of those were mono copies ( see below ). But even the mono copies are rare to find a copy in stereo is therefore mega rare indeed !! ( Please see my close up pictures of this breathtaking and rare stereo spine variant )

Secondly, bearing in mind this record was pressed in colossal numbers, this one has the earliest mothers (1 / 1) and some of the earliest stampers I have ever seen (L / A). With 1 L on side One and 1 A on side Two,

this Pepper is one of the very first off the production line and most all have much higher, multi digits and letters e.g. 3 R D H or 4 G G D or similar are more the normal.  Starting with a ‘1 G’ copy this would have been pressed withing the first 300, this was the normal run before letter changed then to ‘R’, then ‘A’ and so on. This means that 1A would have been around the 6-900th stamper copy and 1L as low as the 2700-3000th - When considered, this stereo copy is almost like finding a ‘White Album’ with a four figure number of the front cover. Honestly, how often will EVEN a 1 L / 1 A ‘Pepper’ ever be seen or offered in stereo?

Lastly this copy is in stereo. Many people think that mono first press yellow/black  label peppers are rarer than stereo copies. This is not only a mis-conception but it is a gross misconception ( see above ) . Yellow Black label stereos are far rarer than their mono counterparts. This is because  even as late as 1967 the demand for mono far outstriped the demand for stereos and this would remain so until the record companies forced the change over to stereo only in 1969. As a result far more mono's were pressed than stereo's in accordance with the demand, indeed most record retailers up until the 1970's were small independant family oulets or chains and didn't even see the need to stock stereo pop records because the damend was so limited. as a result in 1967 if you wanted to buy your copy of Sgt Pepper in Stereo you probably had to get your local retailer to order it especially from EMI. That is how it was usually done back them and consequently the number of mono pressings may outstrip stereo pressings by literally many 10's to 1 . Stereo's are indeed that mauch rarer in comparison to monos.

Not only that but as I have stated above Widespines in Mono are rare enough, in Stereo they are almost impossible to find, and yet here we have one in amazing condition!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This landmark issue in the history of popular music sold in colossal amounts and still does even today. It’s popularity and importance within its genre cannot be overstated. Most Beatles standard issue albums are not rare, far from it, but there are some exceptions. All their albums sold in vast numbers, pressing plants could hardly keep up with demand. Finding clean, lightly played copies that still play well are a different matter however. So many were played into submission, trashed even, so when a very clean copy that has clearly hardly ever been played comes along it’s MUCH more of an exception.
AND LIKE I SAY THIS IS EASILY ONE OF THE LOVELIEST FIRST ISSUE PEPPERS I HAVE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE TO HANDLE AND AS WELL - YOU MAY NEVER SEE A COPY AS NICE AS THIS AGAIN LET ALONE A STEREO WIDESPINE WITH THESE STAMPERS SO GOOD LUCK TO ALL BIDDERS !!
DOMESTIC DISPATCH WILL BE BY SIGNED FOR DELIVERY AND ARE GBP 3.99 FOR A SINGLE LP, THIS IS TO PREVENT FRAUDULANT CLAIMS OF NON RECEIPT IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS THEN PLEASE FEEL FREE NOT TO BID ! INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS PLEASE SEE MY NOTES BELOW
THE CONDITION
SLEEVE: STUNNING, ALMOST NEAR PERFECT WITH A NEAR PERFECT SPINE, HARDLY ANY WARE AT ALL JUST A FRACTION ON THE CORNERS AND ABT 1CM ALONG THE BOTTOM REAR OPENING ( SEE PICS ), HAS A FABULOUS GLOSSY LAMINATE SHEEN WHICH SHOWS HOW WELL IT'S BEEN LOOKED AFTER AND STILL CREAKS WHEN OPENING - GRADES EXCELLENT - I PROMISE YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED WITH THIS BEAUTY
VINYL VISUAL : AS I HAVE STATED ABOVE THIS IS A SIMPLY STUNNING LOOKING COPY THAT WILL NOT DISSAPOINT, BOTH SIDES GRADE EXCELLENT EASY... The playing surfaces  only have ultra fine surface traces mostly visable under a bright halogen lamp. In normal light looks like a minter and under the halgen still not that far off,  these super-faint traces have NO sound whatsoever and this record looks superb. Only with critical viewing under direct light can these FEW tiny surface blemishes be seen –
VINYL PLAY : I TOOK THE UNUSUAL STEP FOR ME OF PLAYING THIS DISC AND I AM PLEASED TO REPORT THAT ON MY SYSTEM IT PLAYED AS GOOD AS IT LOOKED, WITH HARDLY A POP OR A CRACKLE EVEN ON THE QUIET PARTS. I STRESS HOWEVER THAT THIS IS ON MY SYSTEM, OTHER SYSTEMS MAY REPRODUCE DIFFERENTLY BUT I DOUBT IT BUT PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND WHEN BIDDING.
LABELS:  THERE IS SOME EVIDENCE OF PLAY BUT NO WRITINGS OR STICKERS SO BOTH SIDES GRADE EXCELLENT
INSERT: AGAIN NO SERIOUS FLAWS, GRADES NEAR MINT
FOOL INNER : ( SEE PICS ) GRADES VG+
SO A VERY RARE ITEM INDEED COMPLETE AND IN THIS CONDITION WITH THAT SLEEVE AND THOSE STAMPERS THERE AREN'T LIKELY TO BE TOO MANY OTHERS HERE ON EBAY AND I DOUBT MANY LIKE THIS AND THE LAST ONE THAT DID MADE OVER 900 POUNDS SO...
 GOOD LUCK TO ALL BIDDERS!
 (Please note that whilst I try to endeavour to adhere to strict RC gradings I will never describe ANYTHING AS MINT even when I think it to be so. As far as I am concerned any secondhand item by definition cannot be mint. However if I believe an item to be Mint  I will instead either use the terms Near Mint, mint minus, or in archive or vault condition. When I use these terms you know that in my opinion this is in effect a de-facto Mint grade )
INSURANCE INCLUDED IN P&P PRICE DEPENDING ON FINAL SALE VALUE...
Dont forget to take a look at my other items. Please feel free to contact me with any queries you may have.
                                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I ONLY DO A COUPLE OF RUNS A WEEK TO THE POST OFFICE BUT MY ITEMS ARE ALWAYS DISPATCHED WELL WITHIN ONE CALENDAR WEEK OF PAYMENT BEING RECEIVED. I APOLOGISE IN ADVANCE TO THOSE BUYERS WHO SEEM TO EXPECT THEIR ITEM TO ARRIVE THE NEXT DAY, IF YOU WANT TO CHECK WHEN AN ITEM WAS SENT JUST PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME AND I WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO TELL YOU!! (SOME PEOPLE DO MAKE YOU LAUGH, FOR ITEMS I BUY I ONLY NORMALLY GET CONCERNED AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND EVEN AFTER THAT THEN ONLY POLIETELY ENQUIRE IF AND WHEN THE ITEM WAS SENT).

                                   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PAYMENTS BY PAYPAL ARE PREFERRED BUT I ALSO ACCEPT OTHER METHODS. I ALSO POST WORLDWIDE (PLS APPLY FOR RATES) BUT DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH A DISREPUTABLE BUYER IN JAPAN (EBAY WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO NAME THEM) , FOR ALL PAYMENTS MADE VIA PAYPAL THE ITEM WILL ONLY BE SENT BOTH TO THE UK AND WORLDWIDE BY RECORDED OR INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR DELIVERY. THIS IS TO ELIMINATE THE POSSIBILITY OF ANY ATTEMPT TO CLAIM BACK THE PAYMENT VIA PAYPAL EVEN AFTER ACTUALLY HAVING RECEIVED THE ITEM.
THIS OBVIOUSLY HAS HAD THE RESULT OF INCREASING MY COSTS FOR POSTING AND PACKING AND I AM VERY SORRY FOR THIS BUT PAYPAL OFFER NO PROTECTION FOR SELLERS UNLESS THERE IS PROOF OF DELIVERY!! PROOF OF POSTING WOULD SEEM INSUFFICIENT TO THEM AND I HAVE FOUND THIS OUT THE HARD WAY..
DUE TO THE BEHAVIOUR OF THIS SAME BUYER PAYPAL PAYMENTS WILL ALSO NOT BE ACCEPTED FROM BUYERS WHO DO NOT ALLOW THEIR FEEDBACK TO READ, SO IF YOU FALL INTO THIS CATEGORY PLEASE DO NOT BID ON MY ITEMS UNLESS YOU CAN PAY BY ANOTHER METHOD…….COST VIA INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR MAIL TO EUROPE FOR A SINGLE LP IS USUALLY GBP 8.99 AND TO THE USA/REST OF THE WORLD GBP 12.99 FOR A SINGLE LP AND 15.99 FOR A DOUBLE BASED ON A "DECLARED" VALUE OF UNDER GBP 50...
