Tony Roman clearly held a high stature in the Quebec music business in the late 60's and early 70's, being perhaps the only recording artist with the clout (and the appropriate contacts) to record pretty much what he desired. Much like some early post-Beatles experiments ("Electronic Sound", "Two Virgins", etc) Madame Saint Onge is another good example of that old saying........"Why do it ? Well, because I can ! ".
So what and who was Madame Saint Onge ? Although Tony Roman never officially acknowledged his involvement, this LP was clearly yet another off-the-cuff Roman project (one of a handfull of his secondary projects during those wild years).....and while the album today can arguably make claim as the Weirdest Album Ever Recorded in Quebec (maybe in the whole world), the forcibly off-key singing, strained falsettos and humourous tongue-in-cheek lyrics are obviously intentional, with hilarious covers like the Beatles' Help! and other 60's hits.
Mrs.St Onge was in fact a little-known but quite competent Quebec songstress by the name of Francine Laplante (1951-2007), who actually recorded a couple of decent singles under the stage name Maryse Marchall. As confirmed by Maxime Farago (son of of Francine and Johnny Farago), the 10 tracks were recorded in 1967 after "a few drinks" and some coaxing by Tony, who subsequently privately released the LP to disastrous sales (reportedly, only 100 copies of this album were pressed, making it easily one of the rarist of all Quebec vinyl obscurities). Ear-straining but hilarious singing, the musicianship is actually quite competent, and while no credits appear anywhere, involvement supposedly includes popular Quebec 60's band Les Baronets (René Angelil has always maintained his innocence).

Maxime Farago (fils de Johnny Farago) affirment que c’est nul autre que sa mère, Francine Laplante (qui aurait déjà chanté sous le nom de Maryse Marshall), et que son unique album (produit en 100 exemplaires) est le résultat d'un projet humoristique de Tony Roman (détails: ICI)
