Lynyrd Skynyrd Street Survivors LP WITH the controversial flames.

AND, no kidding:

It has NEVER BEEN PLAYED. Seriously. In fact, the album remains in the original cellophane wrapper. The wrapper is partially-torn near the upper right hand corner, and there is some very slight abrasion along the top edge of the cardboard under the afore-mentioned tear, where the album was pulled in and out of a shelf over the past few decades for "show-n-tell". My own stupid fault, I fear, and maybe owes something to alcohol consumption on an occasion or two, but other than this barely-discernible detraction, the album is absolutley pristine. Of course the sleeve is intact, though I've never seen it, since this record has never been opened. I put a bit of scotch tape on the cellophane tear to stabilize it.

MCA 3029, released in 1977. I'm sure you probably know the mythology behind this one. I recall, quite vividly and with much sadness, the tragic plane crash in 1977 that killed Lynyrd Skynyrd's front-man Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines and his sister Cassie. This album had just been released (to much critical acclaim), but, due to the nature of the accident, the image on the album cover, with the flames surrounding the band (and literally embracing Steve Gaines) was deemed distasteful, and was quickly recalled, to be replaced with a plain re-issue, minus the flames. Consequently, there are a limited number of the initial-release albums in circulation, and frankly, I have yet to see one, on eBay or elsewhere, in pristine, un-opened condition.  

Of course I purchased the original when it was released, but I played it, A LOT. Curiously, I stumbled across this copy in a Turtles record store around 1979 or so, after the plane crash and album-recall...it has a "Special Price" sticker under the cellophane, upper-right hand corner (please refer to photograph). I don't know how or why it was there, but I had the sense to keep it unopened and sit on it. Until now; unemployment and impending poverty compels me to unload some of my beloved things, and sadly, I suppose it's time to let this one go. Sniff.

Again, this is not a scam or anything...this is an unopened, unplayed Street Survivors LP, and I have represented everything as scrupulously as possible. I tried my best to capture the aforementioned abrasion in a photograph, but it's just too vague to capture with my 3.0 megapixel camera. Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions.
