Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates.               USA - MGM - E 4447 - MONAURAL

RARE...TOP COPY 1966 first pressing in glorious mono and:

STILL IN ORIGINAL FACTORY CELLOPHANE! Never most likely found THIS clean!

... the rare monaural pressing offers a deep & vibrant bold punch in the sound production -- different from the stereo version.

This is the famous soundtrack that features THE YARDBIRDS as never before or again when employing both Page & Beck on dual guitars and they let loose one of the most fierce attacks known in the British sixties...

"Main Title Blow Up" is a tricky little cut. It starts out swinging London groovin' like something out of an Austin Powers flick, then suddenly turns on a dime and becomes a suave lounge groove with a cool atmosphere. "Verushka, Pt. 1" is a nondescript bluesy shuffle but Pt. 2, while continuing the same basic feel, is more in the traditional jazzy vein with a fine ride. Things get much more avant garde on "The Naked Camera" as the muted trumpet maneuvering around the brash saxophone is a treat to hear. "Jane's Theme" features sultry guitar, bass and subdued Hammond organ and it's smooth as new silk.

"Stroll On" is a killer track and highly significant in its own right. The Yardbirds were instructed to do as they pleased as long as they delivered an in-your-face rave-up that was over-the-top outrageous and feedback-laden heavy to the extreme featuring BOTH Beck & Page. If there's such a thing as proto-heavyrock then this is the poster child for it and, in 1966, THIS was the brand of wild abandon we young rebels were yearning to hear. Simply rewriting the words to "Train Kept a Rollin' so they could receive royalties, this song may be the only studio recording by that terrific band that has both Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck in the line-up and you'll be hard pressed to find anything as balls-to-the-wall in the history of rock. No thin, tinny fuzz-tone effects were allowed, either. Both guitarists cranked their amps to the max, unleashed a furious duel that few (if any) have ever equaled and tacked on a throw-down finale that'll rip your head clean off. It resides permanently in the top five of pure, unadulterated rock & roll numbers and that's saying a lot.

Hammond organisms abound on the next track, "The Thief" a song that also features a slinky bass solo. "The Kiss" is a moody, laid-back ditty where the guitar creates a soothing aura to bathe in, followed by "Curiosity" a Miles Davis-ish ensemble thriller. "Thomas Studies Photos" has a conga-led groove with densely- packed spice blaring and "The Bed" is an acoustic keys/bass/drums piece that makes you feel like you're sitting in a smoky lounge. End Title? is a fast-paced work that's over in less than a minute.

Too many of these cuts are way, way too brief in duration and would love to hear the longer studio out- takes that these snippets were culled from. But that's just wishful thinking. "Blow Up!" is a great sampling of the spirit of musical freedom that was starting to blossom in the mid-sixties for two reasons. A superb blend of old and new school and the rip-roarin' tune from the Yardbirds was one of the first to truly blow the roof off the sucker.
