Description

Very nice original 1957 first pressing copy of Miles Davis' classic 'Round About Midnight LP on Columbia CL-949. Original 6-eye labels with 1A/1A stampers. A true first pressing. This is an unmatched all-time classic jazz album that features John Coltrane in the beginning of his greatness. Truly incredible to hear on an original pressing! Nothing like the cheap later pressings that sound thin and weak. This is a sound that just blasts into your room and puts the players right in front of you... just wonderful sound. This copy plays absolutely beautifully, but I have to grade it as VG because it has marks and scuffs that can be seen but mostly can't be heard at all. On my system it plays E wit only a few light crackles between tracks, and barely even that. The only tiny flaws in the listening are at the very beginnings of the last tracks on each side, where there is very light crackle for a few moments, but it quickly vanishes, and is not bad anyway. These deep groove pressings play fantastically even with some surface wear. The grooves are not worn out and the sound truly is just great. No pops at all, and like I say, barely any crackle, even. The cover is lovely, with only mild ringwear and general shelfwear, but no seam splits and remarkably crisp edges and corners. A name is written on the front, as well as on both labels. Not a big deal... This is just a beautiful original copy that plays stunningly, despite its superficial wear.
