Description

  • Miles Davis Quintet - Relaxin'
  • Original first press Prestige 7129, 446 W. 50th deep groove label, RVG stamp
  • Vinyl is visually G. I hate being the "it sounds way better than it looks" guy, but sometimes with these quality old pressings that is the case, as it is here. Surface scuffs and lines cover both sides, but none are feelable. I played this through completely on my mono cart and the fidelity is remarkably good and the soundstage loud. Yes there is background noise audible but it doesn't ever overpower, and there are times, like when Coltrane starts wailing, that you can't hear it at all. There's only one ballad on this record, which is where you'll hear it the most. I don't want to oversell nor undersell this--I just want to be as honest as I can so your expectations are set. It doesn't look pretty but, particularly if you have a mono cart, I think you'll be pleased at this price point.
  • Sleeve is VG due to the bottom seam damage, likely moisture (no mold), which you see mostly on the back, as well as with the mild paper ripple on the front bottom left. There's also a warp at the bottom right opening (see pics for all). Surprisingly the bottom seam is still intact, and the top and spine remain tight and legible.
  • This is far from an archival copy, but it's a respectable 1st press player of a legendary side.

I use Goldmine grading: NM, VG+, VG, VG-, G, P.  Be confident that if a record doesn't meet your expectations, you can return it.
