On offer here is an ULTRA RARE original KOMMOTION RECORDS issue of the only album by Brisbane-based group, MIKE FURBER and THE BOWERY BOYS.  This album was issued in August 1966 and was deleted from the Festival Records catalogue by the end of the year.  I have only owned three copies in the last 25 years.  This is my last remaining copy and is in STUNNING condition.  It is effectively in the same condition as you would have purchased it from a music store in 1966.  A true NEAR MINT copy and possibly the best copy on this planet!  The amazing BONUS is the ORIGINAL INSERT that is hardly ever offered for sale.

This LP features MIKE FURBER and THE BOWERY BOYS GARAGE/PUNK/BEAT 45’s “Just a Poor Boy”, “You Stole My Love” and “That’s When Happiness Began”.

Most of the album tracks are cover versions with three local compositions thrown in.  The title track “Just a Poor Boy” is a BOWERY BOYS original, while local performers Lonnie Lee and Peter Best contribute “You’re Back Again” & “Love Talk” respectively.  Cover versions include “That’s When Happiness Began” (MONTANAS/GRAINS OF SAND), “You Stole My Love” (MOCKINGBIRDS), “Diddy Wah Diddy” (BO DIDDLEY), “Mercy, Mercy” (DON COVAY), “If You Need Me” (WILSON PICKETT), “Stop” (MOODY BLUES), “Take This Hammer” (SPENCER DAVIS GROUP), “It’s Gonna Work Out Fine” (IKE & TINA TURNER) and “Mailman Bring Me No More Blues” (BUDDY HOLLY).  I’ve included YouTube links to a few of my favourite LP cuts below.  Enjoy!

audible: M- sounds superb, most insignificant underlying static (mainly heard between tracks) - hardly worth mentioning as this would also exist on a truly MINT disc (Festival Records pressing);
