Description

Offered is the 1st Edition Mono Pressing of Miles Ahead, on Columbia Records Six Eye Label,  CL 1041.

This 1st Edition Pressing was originally issued in what today is referred so as the rare "Sailboat Cover". The front cover on subsequent pressings were replaced with a photograph of Miles playing the flugelhorn.

The rarity of the "Sailboat Cover" results from what was an unexpected reaction by Miles when he first saw the cover. This history is explained in the Wikipedia page devoted to the album.

THE VINYL

Lightly played with minimal evidence of spindlewear, both sides of the LP retain all of their original gloss.
 
Bright, undamaged, Red and Black Columbia 6 Eye labels (please see photos).


Evident are some light marks, including sleevewear from the original paper inner sleeve, and some shallow hairlines (Side A). There are no deep marks, and the tracks play cleanly with no skipping or sticking.
 
The record has been carefully handled, infrequently played, and the audio playback is impressive.

Side A :  Excellent :  This side has some long but shallow marks. We completed a playgrade on all of Side A, and heard some noise from the marks only on track A-4, while the other tracks played cleanly.  

Side B :  Near Mint :  There are no marks.

NM :  Please see photos / exceptionally well-stored / bright colors / sharp corners / no edgewear / no ringwear / all of the seams, including the spine, are intact / no writing, paper loss, stains or dirt.
