Description
This is as rare as they come! This is an original first pressing of the "Metal Massacre" compilation. It was released in 1982 and is the first release on the Metal Blade label (MBR 1001). Perhaps even more notably, it contains the very first release EVER from Metallica. This first pressing starts off with "Cold Day in Hell" by Steeler and also features the song "Tell the World" by Ratt - both songs are omitted from later re-pressings. The album closes with "Hit the Lights" (originally by James Hetfield's previous band, Leather Charm) by Metallica - misspelled here as "Mettallica"(!). Later re-pressings of the record have a re-recorded version of "Hit the Lights" with Dave Mustaine playing the lead guitar parts instead of Lloyd Grant (Hetfield was unhappy with Grant's playing on the original version), so this first pressing of the first Metal Massacre is the only place to get the actual first Metallica release!
I really don't want to sell this! That being said I'm retiring to a high humidly area and would hate to loose this album to that environment, so I'm letting it go.
I was lucky enough to find this used copy at Salzer's Records in Ventura back in the early 90's. It does have a Salzer's price sticker on the album cover (I would never be bold enough to try and remove it) the cover has wear, some corners bull nosed, the album itself is in beautiful shape! I've kept the album in a protective storage sleeve and a plastic top loader. Please look at pictures for overall condition.
