We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Musically, Countdown to Ecstasy is even stronger than the Dan's terrific debut, pushing the musical envelope with more complex jazzy harmonies and intricate time signatures, and carrying their lyrics into even more shadowy realms peppered with sci-fi imagery and street-level slang. The songs are stunning, from the opening blast of "Boddhisattva," a Zen boogie fueled by Denny Dias's and Jeff Baxter's angular, bopping guitars, to the postnuclear apocalypse of "King of the World." In between, they deliver the one-two punch of "Show Biz Kids," with its perfect snapshot of affluent decadence, and "My Old School," in which college daze is remembered through a collision of staccato guitar and blazing backing arrangements. Steely Dan actually was more rock than jazz, and this album was the deepest into hard rock they would ever go.
Perhaps "Bodhisatva" is one of the ultimate jazz-rock fusion numbers, fuzz tone guitar burning into great "air guitar" lines over a truly swinging beat. They also hit their crafted pop-rock peak with "My Old School" and their rural-rock peak with "Pearl of the Quarter." "Your Gold Teeth" is a cool jazz-rock jam. "Show Biz Kids" is hard to classify, drenched with great slide guitar. Ovrall, time has proven "Countdown" to be one of Steely Dan's very best albums. Steely Dan masterminds Walter Becker & Donald Fagen, along with guitarists Jeff "Skunk" Baxter & Denny Dias, and drummer Jim Hodder, totally cook on this magnificent set due to obvious high chemistry levels in the studio.
