Description
This is a real find, a privately pressed lp from celebrated English Folk singer/guitarist Martin Simpson.
As far as I can ascertain these were his first recordings probably from late sixties/early seventies.
Privately financed, a handful of these would have been pressed in order to secure gigs etc. As far as I know none have ever turned up before.
The label/manufacturer is the now highly collectable Deroy Sound Services.
Owned by Derrick Marsh Some of the most sought after folk/prog albums of the sixties and seventies were pressed there such as the early Mick Stevens, Complex, Parameter, Candida Pax,
Paul Hobbs, Motiffe, England, Circulation and of course The Dark.
What makes this really special is the handwritten Track listing complete with notes by Martin himself.
On his version of "Cripple Creek" the notes say he is joined on guitar by Paul Empson who played with Amazing Blondel among others.
These recordings predate his first official album Golden Vanity (1976) by some years.
The vinyl itself is in VG+ condition with a few marks and some light crackling in places but overall a fine listening experience.
Plain white sleeve with handwritten artist name in VG+ condition.
Handwritten on writing paper the track notes are in lovely near mint condition.
Matrix number is ADM LP 545.
Overall a great condition item and a unique piece of English Folk history from a highly acclaimed Artist.
Having played through the album to check the track listing I can say that the sound quality is Excellent.
