Description
We are a shop/record label located in West Wickham, Kent, dealing in most styles from the 50's, 60s, 70s and early 80s. All the records / cds listed on ebay are fully guaranteed as to the conditions described. We use professional packing with reinforcements added , and the discs are separated from the sleeves to avoid seam splitting, in the case of E.P.'s and L.P.'s.

Here's a major rarity, which is of interest to both Apple and Marc Bolan collectors. It's a one sided acetate of "Oh Baby" by Dib Cochran & the Earwigs. As you'll see from the label, the working title was "Oh Baby Baby", and the name 'Dib Cochran' was not in the frame, at this stage. Bolan fans know the history of this recording, but for those of you who don't, here it is.
The line up was Tony Visconti (lead vocs, bass guitar), Marc Bolan (guitars, backing vocs), Rick Wakeman (piano) and John Cambridge (drums). For years it was rumoured that David Bowie played on the session, but Tony Visconti has been quoted recently rubbishing the rumours, although Mick Ronson was in the studio, but as a spectator only. The record was released in 1970 on the UK Bell label (1121), with an instrumental on the flip and was a huge flop. It's always been a top collectors item, which fetches around £500 when it appears, with most copies having demo stickers.
I've put a recording of the track below, and as you'll hear, apart from a few crackles at the beginning and end, it sounds really clear. It's also the version with Tony Visconti on vocals, and not one of the takes with Bolan taking the lead. Whether it's the released take that came out on Bell, I wouldn't know, as I don't have the issue to hand , but I did have a quick comparison with a version on youtube, and it sounded the same to me.
So how rare is this? Well only a few of these at most, would have been cut. I don't know whether this is the first time one of these has surfaced, but having searched the net and various mags, I haven't found a mention yet. The chances are that Tony Visconti will have one, but I don't think he needs the money!
There's a growing number of 'investors' moving into record collecting, and this one ticks all the boxes. I'm not going to spend another 2000 lines hyping up this item. I don't need to. It's a massive piece of pop history.
