Ultra-rare original of Make Up Your Mind - Dave Newman on LOOK L-5018 B side of Can't Take No For An Answer LOOK L-5017
Both sides play as VG+ with light surface scuffs that do not affect play quality
Labels are slightly discoloured (off white) and A side - Can't Take No For An Answer has Marker Pen through record label title
The item for sale matches the criteria for an original copy as given by John Manship 5011-L-5018 ZTSB132463-1A Matrix numbers scratched in the run out. Run Out is measured at 16.2mm as in Manship's guide. High ring / ridge which John states signifies counterfeit is not evident within label of the item for sale
The counterfeit copy of this record looks almost identical but differs by having a 3rd Matrix number scratched in which is either 340 or 3Ø0 (not easy to decipher) and also the deadwax run out is significantly wider at over 18mm, incidentally the run in is also wider on the counterfeit copy. On the counterfeit, the ring where the record slopes toward the centre is a very pronounced high ridge, both visible and can be clearly felt as with other counterfeits from around this time, Idle Few, Anderson Bros as examples
A well-respected record dealer and collector kindly loaned me a copy of the counterfeit to assist in identifying subtle differences and I have attached pics to identify the differences between the two. Last 3 pics show the Original, side by side comparisons (with Boot on Right) and finally the Boot (counterfeit version)
