THE RECORD - VERY GOOD PLUS

A heavy set of glossy vinyls in glossy condition. They do have a number of hairlines, scuffs,  scratches and handling marks.  On saying that none of the scratches are deep, and none of the marks are that prominent, and the album plays right through with NO sticks or jumps what so ever.

ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING:

Yes – brilliant! - VERY GOOD PLUS sound quality throughout

This great record plays up to the high visual grading and beyond . As you can imagine with a record that has been well played, it does have occasional background crackle, but has NO repeat clicks or loud pops.

At the very start of the album there is background noise at the start of 'USSR' and 'Dear Prudence'. There is also occasional background in 'Blackbird', but no clicks or pops. There were some pops at the start of 'Piggies', and a couple at the start of 'Long Time', but no repeat or continuous unwanted sounds.

On the whole I enjoyed listening to this pressing. It is still very playable and it still has that great MONO sound. As John Lennon said that the Beatles sounded best in Mono, and I couldn’t agree more!

A great all round Complete and Rare example of this BEATLES MASTERPIECE

staggering first MONO mix, unlike the re-issues which lack the impact, drive and punch of the Mono sound.

The Beatles, later known as the White Album, had over a quarter of a million advance orders, and of course went straight to number 1. This was the first double album EVER to get to the top slot where it stayed for 7 weeks in a row. It sold so many, that once again The Beatles also made the singles chart, consequently the ONLY double album to ever enter that chart. By the end of the year, just over a month later, the white album had sold over 4,000,000 copies worldwide, and by the end of 1970 global sales were around 6.5 million. At that time this was the biggest selling double album of all time.

The sleeve design was by Richard Hamilton, who suggested the minimalistic approach and the consecutively numbered sleeves which would give a limited edition feel to it. Richard also came up with the montage idea for the large free poster, which included the lyrics on it's rear. The four free colour prints were taken by John Kelly.

THE COVER – VERY GOOD

Comes with the original WIDE SPINE Top Loading Gatefold Sleeve by GARROD & LOFTHOUSE. 

It is made in the heavier thick card only found on the first press albums. The title THE BEATLES is embossed under the laminate, with the Edition Number - No. 0324843 - pressed into the sleeve. The UK ORIGINAL GARROD & LOFTHOUSE gatefold covers came with fully Laminate Flip Backs, which are in great condition.

The cover has maintained its creamish white sheen, but it does have a fair amount of wear. The laminate has lifted slightly along the spine, and there are a number of cracks, which can clearly be seen in the images, but the text is still legible.  There is a light stain on the bottom middle of the gatefold, as seen in the image, but it does not overpower this cover. The inside is clean with no feathering to the top openings, which is unusual.

The MONO versions, do have a tendency to ‘yellow’, and this one does have some yellowing near the edges and along the spine, but its an solid intact cover.

Famous Apple labels are in VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT Condition.  no marks or writing, minimal spindle wear, but two of the labels to have sticker removal tears, as seen in the images.

THE INNERS

The vinyls themselves will of course come in two plain white inner sleeves, and have not been stored in these original black inners.

Large original Lip Stick PHOTO-MONTAGE and LYRIC SHEET, 57 x 87 cms in VERY GOOD PLUS condition. NO tears or splits, just some light wear on the edges and some discolouration on the lyric side. - No tears, no writing, no pin-holes, no glue or sellotape marks.

MY RECORD GRADING SYSTEM IS AS FOLLOWS - (BASED ON RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE U.K. )

MINT: Virtually unplayed. The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover is pristine.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

V.G PLUS: The record will still be nice and shiny, but may have a few light marks, and will play well. Slight wear and tear on the cover.

V.G: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, etc.

FAIR: Fair. It is noticeable that the record has been played so much that the sound quality has deteriorated very noticeably. The cover and contents are showing signs of folding, scuffing of edges etc.
