3. "From Books and DREAMS" by "MESSAGE" the 50+ years back MONSTER KRAUTROCK arifact. A perfect example of an investment collectible; the Psych-Prog Rock epic is adorned by an awesome laminated gatefold skull/snake cover,highlighted by a cool dark theme radiating throughout both sides.
4. Right from the start, the spooky intro "Sleep" warns of an ominous audio experience... with the 'right' promotion, this album could have been big, though was totally overlooked back in 1973 in light of all the terrific underground rock music exploding out of Europe and beyond.N

1. Message "From Books and Dreams" is a dark, hard-rocking psychedelic album filled with appeal. The great production alone makes for a very spacey, dirty and blurry atmosphere serving the album well.

   [isdntekvideo] half-British / half-German 4-piece creative affair found the band at their peak. Listening to "From Books and Dreams" in the evening with lit-up candles, an unplugged phone, sitting back, drifting away.
4. From Books And Dreams
   1 - Sleep : Not really a song, more of an introduction. A feeling of intense, wrenching vertigo, similar to the moment before falling into subconsciousness and the dream realm, is well depicted here. Blurry, psychedelic, a perfect mood setter.
   
   2 - Dreams and Nightmares (Dreams) -from an album with no weak points tarts where Sleep left off, with hypnotic guitar theme, repeated for a while and building up until a riff change and vocals kick in. Tom McGuigan's voice is clearly British, and many will love. Not always on tone, Tom more than makes up for it with intensity and theatricality. 
5. British guitarist Alan Murdoch shines all through the album, here with amazing hard-rocking infectious riffs with the main theme to stick in your head for days, months, maybe years. The rhythm section is very tight despite a raw edge enjoyable to listen to led by adventurous lead guitar and lyrically unveiling dark-tones within "dreams" (as does the whole album), therefore do not expect the lyrics to make sense, while still making sense (as dreams do). The song segues into :
   
   3 - Turn Over ! : A dark, psychedelic guitar pattern graces the song, serving as background to Tom McGuigan's wailing winds. This track closes side one with endless loop advising the listener to 'Turn Over'when the needle reaches the end of the LP.
   
   4 - Sigh : Another psychedelic rocking number centered on Murdoch's guitar lines, a focus of the song, and McGuigan's vocal melodies are also very interesting.
   
   5 - Dreams and Nightmares (Nightmares) : The other high point of the album. The inclusion of keyboards makes for a haunting effect. Catchy dark riffs all the way through, interesting chord progressions... a great track.
