Description
Complete & original heavyweight vinyl 1st UK pressing of ‘The Beatles - Please Please Me’ from the 22nd March 1963 on the short-lived black & gold Parlophone labels, briefly used before the classic black & yellow labels were issued a couple of months later.
The 1st pressing can be identified by the four tracks - ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ & ‘Misery’ on side one, and ‘Do You Want To Know A Secret’ & ‘There’s A Place’ on side two - incorrectly credited to ‘Dick James Mus. Co.’ due to an earlier mistake by George Martin, before being corrected to“Northern Songs Ltd” for the 2nd press shortly after.
The 1st press ‘Gold’ sleeve printed by Earnest J. Day Co. Ltd, can be identified by the"Photo: Angus McBean" credit alignment on the front bottom right corner, which begins where the "s" of songs end. On the second issue sleeves, the credit was moved further to the left aligning with the “g”.

Stunning condition! This is an EXCELLENT PLUS player and looker in a EXCELLENT PLUS gold sleeve. The disc surface has a real mirror-like deep gloss without marks in natural daylight and under a strong direct halogen spotlight only a few short light hairlines are visible! There is no warping to the disc and it sits completely flat on the turntable. The labels are clean of writing and have a bright and sharp print colour all the way to the centre hole. The playback is fantastic. The lead-ins, lead-outs and between tracks are nice and quiet. Full, punchy 1st press playback that amazingly plays without pops, clicks, hiss or distortion throughout the entire LP, EXCELLENT PLUS! The cover is also in fantastic condition, glossy clean front without ring wear or stains. The spine is sharp, clean and fully-readable and without wear all the way along to the corners. The back is bright white and clean, no stains, foxing, marks, or pen. All seems are fully stuck without scuffing, tears, or splits. Sharp at the opening edge, EXCELLENT PLUS! Complete with its original tracing-paper Emitex inner sleeve which is clean and without splits. This comprises both a fantastic listening & also collectors condition complete 1st UK mono press of The Beatles debut album from its original release date of March 22nd 1963, hot off the press.
