Rare original 1972 WHITE LABEL PROMOTIONAL Los Angeles hard melodic rock band with guitar and keys structures led by Michael Monarch, original guitarist with Steppenwolf (who played on born To Be Wild & Magic Carpet Ride + all the groups classics).
Michael Monarch's guitar playing perhaps helped best to capture the spirit of the 1960's. His work with the iconoclastic "Steppenwolf" remains a hallmark of the unique mixture of psychedelic and rock. As the original guitarist for "Steppenwolf", he played on all the hits including "Born To Be Wild", "Magic Carpet Ride", "Rock Me", "The Pusher", and "Sookie Sookie". Michael has worked with such all-time legends as Steppenwolf, Janis Joplin (The Kozmic Blues Band), Swan
Song/Atlantic recording group Detective, as well as with Roger Glover of (Deep Purple), and Andy Fraser of (Free).
Question to Michael: After Steppenwolf, you formed the band Hokus Pokus and got a record deal with Romar/Mercury Records. How long did Hokus Pokus last, and do you have any fond memories of the band?
Michael: It did not last too long. The keyboard player, Scott Thurston was great and went on to play Iggy & tHe Stooges ("Raw Power" era). We actually ran out of money after recording the basic tracks and had to finish the overdubs and mix with a deadline of 3 days. That was insane but we did it!

CONDITION: The cover is a keeper copy M- being still in outer cellophane shrink wrap which has a square missing at top right, otherwise very tight on the rest of the cover and ALL on back cover. There is a small bump to the top right corner but not bad...no seam splits, no bends, no writing anywhere...
THE VINYL with white promotional labels is all glossy clean M-
The large insert (hard paper) is clean and stiff....
