We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +22,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. The Small Faces were of the 60's paisley underground Swinging London crowd...they broke up in 1969 just after recording this album and after three years of English hits and the most indifferent sort of success in America—and "Autumn Stone" is the final English release - and it's very enjoyable indeed.
The Small Faces started as a mixture of MOD ROCKING ala "THE WHO" a hasty group of four lads emerging from the Mod movement of 1965. They looked set for a hearty career under an exploitive manager in the time-honored British rock hits tradition—but they were real Mods. They had their own ideas and the song-writing and instrumental abilities to pursue. They remained derivative, they jumped on rock concepts, they made startlingly catch self compositions, and their style exuded show - biz - there's - money - to - be - made - in - this, but London - Mod - hey - man - that's - cool. They had an eagerness to try with focus in mind, and the results remain extremely appealing.
Their drug song, "Itchycoo Park," is ridiculously clever, capturing the joys of getting high. Their folk-rock song. "Just Passing," is nicely innocent; and even their most arty song, "The Autumn Stone," is saved by its corniness. Whatever they tried to do, in the end their real strength came through. Their songs are all high-powered memorable tunes straight from the Mod discotheques of mid-60's swinging London
AUTUMN STONE is a very British record. The Small Faces didn't look very far for their influences. Steve Marriot, their lead singer, has a very powerful voice (one of the great sights of English rock and roll --used to be tiny and neat Steve Marriot opening his mouth slightly, then screaming like a dervish) but he had no idea how to enhance it and so he turned to Steve Winwood for inspiration. It's obvious as well that the band never gave up trying to catch the Who. In the end, one can pick out all the elements of the British pop scene 1965 1968.
The SMALL FACES never really made it, but oh, they "made it." . They lacked an evil genius in fellow Rolling Stones 60's manager Andrew Loog Oldham to discipline and mold their obvious talent (the beautiful, soaring chorus of "Afterglow of Your Love" makes one wish a Phil Spector had got hold of Marriot's voice and given it "Wall Of Sound" power). By themselves the only place the Small Faces could go was banging out potential hits and caught up. Their pursuit was always innocent and enthusiastic, very happy and defiantly infectious—the essence of good rock and roll.
"Autumn Stone" released later in the year of 1969, included both their major Immediate recordings and rare live concert performances, including a number of previously unreleased tracks, like the classic Swinging Sixties groover "Wide Eyed Girl on the Wall" and "Donkey Rides, A Penny, A Glass", co-written by Ian McLagan. The final single, "Afterglow (Of Your Love)", was released in 1969 after the band had ceased to exist. Since there was no one to promote it, it only reached the UK Singles Chart Top 40.
