Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. SCARCE original 1969 first pressing BLUES OBITUARY by the mighty GROUNDHOGS ...one of their most famously collected albums, for good reason...
"Blues Obituary" finds the GROUNDHOGS beginning to stretch beyond traditional blues forms, as demonstrated on the seven-minute epic "Light Was The Day". Beyond its memorable cover art, "Blues Obituary" marks the GROUNDHOGS' first effort as a power trio and it's all about the guitar here, with singer/axe-slinger Tony McPhee proving himself to be a seemingly bottomless fount of inventive six-string textures and melodic statements, even on a classic blues tune like "Natchez Burning." From start to finish, BLUES OBITUARY is practically a primer for how to play blues-rock guitar without resorting to cliche.
Recorded during June of 1969 at Marquee Studios in London with Gary Collins and Colin Caldwell engineering, the trio of Groundhogs put the blues to rest on Blues Obituary. Composed, written, and arranged by Tony "T.S." McPhee, there are seven tracks hovering from the around the four to seven minute mark. The traditional "Natchez Burning," arranged by McPhee, fits in nicely with his originals while the longest track, "Light Is the Day," features the most innovation, a Ginger Baker-style tribal rant by drummer Ken Pustelnik allowing McPhee to lay down some muted slide work while Pete Cruickshank's bass drives along with the mayhem. Vocals across the board are kept to a minimum as it's all about the sound here.
