Description

An original very 1st press of PG on the UK Swan label. Matrix A1/B4-C1/D1 . Note how the labels are consistent with 1st issue and do NOT exhibit the Warners logo in the perimeter text. Why are the earliest copies worth going for? Apart from being just that bit closer to the original masters they were pressed just a tad heavier. And that does make a difference! The vinyl comes housed in an original die-cut Cullderstead cover. We also have both original thick-card inner sleeves. And there's the internal white credit sheet by Gothic Printers. So, it's all there..100% genuine and 100% complete. We will ship the Lps in MOFI inner sleeves for maximum protection.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) Wowzers..if you like super preservation read on...these babies are low mileage. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with just a couple of deviations. Pretty much as good a copy of PG as I've heard. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. I love this Lp and hearing it like this brings the goose-bumps out! Powerful audio with bags of integrity. Nothing is creeping into the signal - it's pure. The upbeat numbers play perfectly, but this copy can delivers those low-key moments....the slow-builds etc [e.g. THE LIGHT] with breath-taking accuracy and a quiet background. Basically it is the full package. The only things I could take issue with was... the intro to DYING. I'm getting a few crackles and a couple of ticks. And a couple of ticks in Bron Y-AUR [no big deal]. But that's all really - across four sides. It's an absolute belter of a copy. Highly recommended. To find it playing clean consistently like this is no mean feat.
Cover (Vg+) You can certainly find covers a wee bit better than this one - but I'd argue it is still in very respectable condition with little overtly noticeable to find fault with. The die-cut window openings are in excellent order with no scuffing or wear. Surfaces front and back are really well preserved. Overall the box shape seems to be fairly well intact with very good rigidity. There's a bit of edge wear mostly on the spines. That really is the only vague issue. The text on the spine is still mostly legible. Still a very respectable example.
Inners (Ex) Structurally excellent with no splits and precious little wear. Only slight detractor - the owner biro'd the side numbers in the extreme top right corner. Otherwise - faultless.
Insert/Credit Sheet (Vg+) Nice - with one side lightly aged and the other with foxing down in the bottom right corner.
