Description

An original 1st issue of Zep III on UK Atlantic. Matrix A5/B5 - 1st cut. Please note this copy is not 'day of release' 1st press - those copies carry "peter grant". This copy would have been available a couple of months after release - whilst the album charted. Also note that this copy was probably destined for export - it has a Deluxe German sleeve. The very 1st copies were printed by E J Day covers and employed heavier card. Whilst this example is slightly inferior to those earliest copies it's still very nice on the eye thanks to that iconic design. Also included is the original inner sleeve dated coded to autumn 1970. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple or light marks either side - one small one does sound [details below]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one deviation. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with superb clarity. Interference is both minor and infrequent. All I could detect were a few crackles in a couple of isolated moments. Then, the only deviation is a small mark in the intro to 'Tangerine' which causes 8 clicks...As soon as the main body of the songs kicks off it disappears immediately. So, my feeling is that this copy would suit someone looking to get a bit of that red & plum magic, but at a realistic price. One would have to compromise on that intro, but I feel that the quality level for the remainder of the LP is sufficient to make this a "no-brainer" purchase.
Cover (Ex-) Ok, again, bear in mind that this is not the heavy-card 1st deluxe cover. So, it's not quite as striking as those very early covers, but it's more than respectable in its own way. A very nice clean and relatively unaged front. The only things to mention are a tiny sticker removal mark top-right and that the spinning wheel has come away from it's pin [making it difficult to spin]. The rear looks very nice with only faint signs of ageing. The interior looks great - no issues at all. There's a bit of edge wear in places. Most noticeable on the spine where there are a couple of spots. Most of the text is legible - but not all. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex) Minimal ageing. No splits.
