Description
An original 2nd pressing of Zep III on the UK Atlantic label. Matrix A5/B7. Labels are consistent with 2nd press, and in addition, carry an early label error. Track 3 is named 'Celebration' when in fact it should show as 'Celebration Day'. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original E J Day gatefold cover. Please note the wheel has come off its spindle. So, you can still turn it with a bit of effort, but it does not spin freely.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In super condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of marks either side. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Zep III has a lot of low-key moments and so it is important to look for a nice clean playing copy - which this copy most certainly is. Interference, generally, is very minor and the audio is nice and clean. We do, however, have one audible issue in 'Gallows Pole' though. One mark is obviously just deep enough to cause ticks through two minutes of the track. Thankfully it is mostly over the part of the track where they up the ante and the hurdy-gurdy et all is going at full tilt, but it is still audible all the same. Given that the rest of the LP plays so well I would argue that this copy is still well worthy of consideration. But you will have to live with that issue in Gallows.
Cover (Vg+) In very nice condition and has clearly been looked after down the years. The front exhibits a couple of creases in the top right corner and some ageing at the extremities - which is common. The rear is very similar and looks great. The interior is pretty much immaculate no issues at all. Edge wear is reasonably light and the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
