Description

Led Zeppelin III on the UK Atlantic label from around the time of release in 1970. Matrix A5/B7. Etchings - 'So Mote It be'/'Do What Thou Wilt'.  Catalogue number 2401002.The record comes housed in an original cover printed in the UK by E J. Day Group. This particular copy would have come straight after the 1st pressing run. As you can see on the labels they've goofed up the title for track 3 - 'Celebration Day' is shown as merely 'Celebration'.

Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) The labels are absolutely stunning, but please note one has been autographed. The vinyl still retains much of its original shine and a close inspection of the surface reveals a couple of very light marks - nothing remotely troublesome.  A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, VERYGOOD+ level of playback on S2 and an EXCELLENT one on S1. Intros and inbetweens are very quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Sound quality is near excellent on Side 2, but there are some audible light static crackles in places. They're minor for the most part, a few noticeable ones in the intro to 'Gallows Pole', and never really impinge on the audio. The sound reproduction on these early copies really is a testament to the quality of manufacture. Side 1, on the other hand, really delivers the goods in spades.....lush presentation and very little interference at all. A thoroughly enjoyable rendition of, personally, my favourite Zeppelin album...
Cover (Vg) Remains in in great condition particularly considering its the original from 1970. Front and rear have some light signs of ageing and edge wear - please note there's a touch of water damage on the bottom-left of the rear. The interior is in fantastic condition, but please note there's the indentation of a name just visible toward the top-right. The text on the spine is all perfectly readable. Overall the cover maintains really good rigidity. Special Note:- re the spinning wheel - It is intact and you can rotate it aok, but you need to apply pressure at the center gently whilst spinning the wheel for it to work reliably.
