Description
Desirable 1970 UK first pressing of Led Zeppelin III with the famous “Celebration” label error + fully working rotating wheel!
This is a genuine early UK Atlantic pressing (catalogue 2401-002 / SD 7201) on the classic red/maroon/plum label design. Key collector features include:
• “Celebration” misprint on Side 1 (instead of “Celebration Day”)
• Matrix / runouts: A5 / B7 (stamped) with the etched messages “Do what thou wilt” and “So mote it be”
• Fully laminated gatefold sleeve with the working die-cut rotating wheel on the front
• “Made in Germany” on the back cover
• Warner Bros. Music credit at the bottom of the labels (over “Produced by Jimmy Page”)
• Original inner sleeve with the 0870 code
Condition:
• Vinyl: Very Good+ (VG+) – Plays great overall with excellent sound and dynamics. There is one light mark about halfway through Side 2 that causes a few minor pops/crackles but does not affect play or skip. No deep scratches, no warps. A strong performer for a 55+ year-old record.
• Gatefold Sleeve: Excellent (EX) – As close to mint as you’ll get for a 1970 release. Kept in a protective outer cover its whole life, so minimal wear, sharp corners, bright colours, and the rotating wheel works perfectly. Light edge rubbing but to be expected with a record this old!
• Inner Sleeve: Original 0870 inner.
This is a highly sought-after early UK copy with the Celebration error, correct A5/B7 matrices, and a superb sleeve. The vinyl plays really well and the whole package looks and sounds fantastic.
