Description
Led Zeppelin II 2 RL Robert Ludwig “Hot mix”. This is the CP (Columbia Pitman) pressing which Side 2 doesn't have the standard characteristic narrow deadwax! True Hotmix collectors know this and another distinctive characteristic other than RL etched is present.
US 1st pressing, featuring Robert Ludwig's "HOT" mastering on both sides. These were withdrawn early because the high bass levels caused low-grade cartridges to miss-track, leading people to return the album on the belief that it was defective. Another engineer was then hired to recut a much less "hot" version of the album, and that is the far more common version. Playing the HOTMIX and Standard remix side by side, and same volume is an eye opener!
Labels include "CP" suffix (indicating Columbia Pitman pressing) and "Mfg By Atlantic Recording Corp., 1841 Broadway, New York, N.Y.". Matrices on Side A and Side B has RL SS is present in the deadwax.
Matrix Side 1: Side 1: ST-A-691671 RL ss balance of markings are too small for my vision,
Matrix Side 2: ST-A-691672-1A RL ss x. B3
Side 1 plays with light noise throughout, however Side 2 plays real nice. Some intro noise as with most albums of this age. Album does have hairlines which don’t effect play. Grading is per the GOLDMINE standards. Album has been cleaned via ULTRASONIC machine, and comes in Mofi inner sleeve and 4 mil outer. Priced to sell based on condition,
