Led Zeppelin 'Bonzo's Birthday Party' original Trade Mark of Quality release from 1973 - 2LP set on yellow and red translucent vinyls. TMQ 72007.
The legendary show from the Inglewood Forum on 31st May 1973, John Bonham's 25th birthday.
Side 1: Misty Mountain Hop The Song Remains the Same The Rain Song
Side 2: Dazed and Confused
Side 3: No Quarter The Ocean
Side 4: Heartbreaker Whole Lotta Love
Vinyl: Both discs have been carefully cleaned and tested on headphones through all four sides. The discs play extremely well with only minimal background noise. Four (very minor) clicks detected mid way through side 2 but not significant. A nice clean listen, and the best quality TMQ Zeppelin release that I have ever heard. Would rate VG+ overall.
Inner sleeves: Two plain original inners, both in good condition. The first one has some minor creasing and 'Zeppelin Bonzos B'day' written neatly on the front. The second one has 'LED ZEPP' neatly written in small capital lettering and a green stamped serial number '070377' - both on the rear.
Outer sleeve: The outer single sleeve is in very good condition. There is minimal ring wear to the front and the gold 'GENUINE TRADE MARK OF QUALITY DISC' is very clean. All edges are solid, and just some minimal 'squishing' to the bottom right corner (barely visible). The reverse of the sleeve features the pasted on William Stout artwork and is nice and clean apart from two minor 'dinks' along the bottom of the artwork, and the top right-hand corner which was originally missing when I acquired this album back in 2003. A friend of mine who is a graphic artist expertly replaced the missing section (see photos).
This is only the second one of these albums that I have seen. The first was a version with an identical sleeve but with two green translucent discs, and that was 44 years ago in Cob's Records, Portmadoc, August 1973!
I have always referred to this album as 'My Holy Grail' as after failing to buy the green double in '73, it took me exactly 30 years to find another! I have now decided to downsize my collection, and so look out for further interesting vinyl items. The £50 starting price reflects the rarity of this item - there cannot be many of these coloured vinyl versions left in such condition as this one! A clear plastic sleeve is also included.
