ITEM INFORMATION: As a lover of and collector of music, I always wanted to learn as much as possible about my collection.
As I have for everything that I have been interested in. Part of the fun of hobbies.
While there are paper-bound record collector guides printed by various companies from time-to-time,
the listing of classical music were of only a few orchestras, which is not much help.
David Canfield is an American and has a company called Ars Antiqua.
He specializes in classical music recordings, buying, selling and researching.
Seeing what many of us have, he decided to fill the void left by standard record collecting guides as far as classical music was concerned.
He set out to document all of the classical recordings in various formats:
LP, Reel Tape, Cassette Tape and CDs.
He created the Canfield Guide To Classical Recordings.
Each edition was larger and more complete then the last.
Culminating in this, the final 5th Edition which came out in the year 2000.
This book is HUGE and HEAVY, weighing in at eight pounds.
It has THOUSANDS of pages and hundreds of thousands of entries.
There is NO better guide to classical music.
If you are a serious collector like I am, then this guide will prove invaluable to you.
I spent many an hour going through my collections and using the book to determine
LP and CD as to it’s rarity and value. At last, I am done.
I was extremely careful with this expensive book since it has been in my possession.
As a result, it is as nice as when I bought it.
Now, I am passing it on to you. Treasure this book as I have.
We do not “own” anything. We are merely stewards of things.
If we are careful stewards, we can pass on our things to future
generations for their enjoyment and enlightenment.
This final guide rarely comes on the market.
