Description
Lampglass Folk - Very Rare Private Folk LP - 1974 - White Label - VG. Condition is "Used". Dispatched with Royal Mail 1st Class.
Cat: 570 346 A/B
Extremely rare folk private press vinyl Lp, One of two copies known to exist . There are currently no details on how many of these were pressed
The vinyl grades as VG visually. There are no deep marks just a few fine line scuffs or faint marks but both sides has some streaking but doesnt affect play, and the record plays near to VG+ with some light crackle/surface noise in different parts but never overpowering in any way to affect listening enjoyment.
Both white labels are VG+ with blue title text stamped,
There is a run out matrix code which is 570 346 A/B
There is no sleeve on this LP, and highly doubtful that one ever existed
Its name and possibly the band name derives from the Lampglass Cellar Bar in Ashington in the North East, where there was a folk club.
There are eleven tracks consisting of live and studio recordings, the latter having applause dubbed on at the end.
A unique aspect to this record is that the majority are, as far as I can gather, original songs drawing on various folk styles. There are only one or two Traditional songs (one an acid folkish rendition of Lyke Wake Dirge.)
Samples of four of the tracks can be heard here

The music all seems to be by the one group (two male vocals and one female) using guitar, twelve string guitar, mandolin, whistle and mouth organ.
A very varied, interesting and extremely rare record.
