Magnificent copy of this sought after recording. This is a first press copy with rarely seen Gold on Orange labels. It has 1D/2D matrix numbers etched and the sleeve has the date 55/11.
The disc is in superb condition - under halogen light a couple of light non-feelable marks are just visible but these do not affect play. There is a very low level of occasional background noise - nothing overly intrusive and it certainly does not detract from a highly engaging listen. A dedicated mono cartridge would probably lead to even more impressive results.
On the rear of the sleeve, almost too faded to be visible, is stamped "Gallo (Africa) Limited" and "Gallo" is etched into the Side 1 label (see photo 5). A bit of googling tells me that this probably indicates that the disc was exported to South Africa through Gallo on release.
The scalloped flipback sleeve is in great shape. All laminate is fully attached and intact except for a 2cm patch confined to the left of the top rear scallop. There is a split to the bottom edge of approx. 4 cm which has been neatly repaired with clear tape.
The disc has been cleaned on a Moth Mk2 Pro record cleaning machine with L'art Du Son fluid and a new antistatic sleeve applied. Postage will be in a professional record mailer with board stiffeners and the disc removed from the outer sleeve to avoid splits during transit. Record Collectors Grading System
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
