I bought this LP new in April 1972.
Cover - Shrink on. Cutout hole top right. No writing, no splitting. Very little shelving/handling evidence.
Vinyl - Some rubs, fair number of light marks. Side one label is wrinkled. I think this was stored from 1965 to 1972. On side 1 there is a big V discoloring that resembles an impression of one of the then-folded corners of the paper sleeve. That fold could have missed the cutout hole. Occasional shuffling and a lot of sitting in storage could account for some marks on the vinyl. This plays just fine though. The Side 1 label wrinkling may be from insufficient glue at origin.
Sleeve - Plain white paper. 2 slits out from center on one side.

What a great album. Homesick James was around for a long time before he recorded this. Liner notes provide an array of top blues names he played and recorded with.
Several sources have these songs recorded in Chicago on January 7, 1964.
I place the release for this particular album as 1965. I also believe it is a first pressing. Here are some varieties of details concerning this album:

cvinyl has this label, with trident at side, as 1964-1971
wirz and another source have Lee Jackson on bass, not Eddie Taylor.
The liner notes have Feb. 1965 after Pete Welding’s name. Curiously, Pete doesn’t talk about the particular songs on this LP. Toward the bottom of column 1 he mentions “Oscar Woods (The Black Ace).” These actually are two different people.
Could this have originally been intended to be released on Prestige/Bluesville as BV-1082?
Maybe something went wrong and with the stampers already having that catalog number imprinted, they crossed those #’s out and pressed this as Prestige PR 7388.
Aaah, who knows.
The more relevant point is we have the wonderful slide guitar of Homesick James Williamson leading a knockout band.
