Description
This Auction is for a Vogue Picture Disc Clyde McCoy and his Orchestria Sugar Blues/Basin Street Blues Catalog number R 707 in VG condition.
In 1946, the first all-picture disc record label -Vogue Picture Discs - was born in Detroit.
The company had perfected an automatic assembly line process for constructing picture discs. Two paper colour illustrations were placed on either side of an aluminum core. The illustrations and core were treated with a clear vinylite polymer and the grooves were stamped into the final product.
Unfortunately initial sales were very poor - pretty picture records could not compensate for their high retail price.
The company declared bankruptcy a year later, leaving a legacy of more than 75 coloured vinyl records in a cross section of various genres. Only a few copies exist for many of the releases.
