This is super rare, very few UK copies made in this format, scant sales, and I doubt that many exist!
I have only seen a couple of the red Elektra copies over the years, NEVER Gold - especially NOT expected as a first Stereo!
Many other artists' rarest lps, if pressed in such small numbers would fetch many times this amount, so I would suggest snapping up a bargain here - indeed some rare 45s sell for more.
They were a brilliant psych band, who only became widely known after their first 3 albums were behind them - meaning sales were limited indeed.
All around they were really special, and mostly under-rated outside of the West Coast scene where they played.
As many of their tracks reveal - especially on these early albums - they were competent, fittingly psychedelic, and fascinating. They were an eclectic band that had difficulty breaking down racial prejudices in much of the US, where ignorant racism was an issue.
They helped The Doors get noticed too, in California - very magnanimous to struggle, yet promote another band!
They would not have been touring in The UK at the time of this release, so it was just a few diligent buyers who might have discovered them at this point, their very first record album.
This ORIGINAL UK FIRST PRESSING copy is in great playing condition, it plays and sounds excellent.
CONDITION;
Vinyl is playing great, with superficial surface marks on Side 1 that look way worse than they are - but do not affect play. The playing grade is really EXCELLENT. The quality of the UK vinyl pressing is really good, so it's only the marks on Side one keeping this from NM.
Lables are clean EXCELLENT, the first GOLD with black text, big 'E' and it's the 1st pressing with no tears or stickers.
The solid card US COVER is EXCELLENT, really well preserved. The rear is clean with no pen or tears.
Elektra early UK issues were normally housed in US covers initially, this was the same for Paul Butterfield and Tim Buckley first lps here.
