LOU REED pre-VELVET UNDERGROUND LP: SOUNDSVILLE various artists surf, rock, R&B
Soundsville! Design SDLP 187 (stereo). This LP, released in 1965 (or 1964 according to the Both Sides Now discography), includes songs written and performed by Lou Reed, including lead vocals on "You're Driving Me Insane," credited to the Roughnecks, and "Cycle Annie" credited to The Beachnuts. These groups and the others on the LP were studio musicians playing alleged examples of "The Sounds of New York," The Sounds of Chicago," " The Sounds of the Motorcycle," The Sounds of Surfing," etc.
Side 1: The J Brothers: Don't Turn My World Upside Down / The Hi-Lifes: Soul City / The Hollywoods: Teardrop In The Sand / The Liberty Men: Wonderful World Of Love / The Roughnecks: You're Driving Me Insane.
Side 2: The Hi Lifes: First Impression / I'm Gonna Fight / The Beachnuts: I've Got A Tiger In My Tank / Cycle Annie / Jeannie Larimore: Johnny Won't Surf No More / Connie Carson: It's Hard For A Girl In A World Full Of Men.
According to various websites, all titles were composed by Lou Reed/Terry Philips/Jerry Vance/Jimmie Sims, except I've Got A Tiger In My Tank by Reed/Philips/Vance/Sims and Robert W. Motta; Lou sings and plays guitar on side 1, track 5, and side 2, track 4, and (probably) plays guitar and backing vocals on the rest.
Side 1 is VG+ with light scuffs, Side 2 VG; shiny but has a couple of scratches. Jacket is G+; splits at top & bottom have been taped. Water-stained.

GRADING:
LPs, EPs and 45s are graded M (mint), NM (near mint), VG+, VG (very good), VG-, G+, G (good), G-, F (fair), and P (poor). A VG+ record may have some visible scuffs and light scratches and plays well with little surface noise. Scratches on records graded VG and VG- may be deep enough to feel with your fingernail, or there may be scratches throughout that cause surface noise. On records in the G+, G and G- range the level of the music is still above the surface noise caused by scuffs and scratches. Surface noise is as loud as the music on records graded F and louder than the music on P records.
Jackets graded VG+ have only slight wear; jackets graded VG are more worn but still intact unless defects are noted. G jackets show definite damage and F and P jackets are probably falling apart. Splits, markings, cut corners, and other defects will be noted.
