Description
Legendary pressing of a legendary album. As the story goes, Robert Ludwig mixed this album so hot that when a copy was given to the niece of the president of Atlantic Records, it wouldn't play through without skipping on her cheap record player. The Atlantic president ordered the album to be recut, and the Ludwig cut was recalled and replaced with a much duller sounding mastering. When compared back to back, the difference between the Ludwig cut and the recut is night and day.
This copy has seen plenty of use, the disc is covered in light scuffs and scratches, along with some feelable scratches. The cover has seen some better days too, as seen in the photos. Plays a lot better than it looks, definitely plenty of crackling and pops, especially in quiet sections. Good copy if you want to hear Ludwig's mastering, and don't mind some surface noise and crackling. I'm not too confident at grading records, so I added this needle drop below if you would like to judge the condition. Might sound better or worse on your system depending on your stylus (mine is fairly entry level).
