Description
LIGHTNIN' HOPKINS "STRUMS THE BLUES" mono lp on Score SLP-4022 orig. US issue 1958 VG/VG-. (New dealer: Please check my About Me page.) I would grade this LP VG. I will only auction VG condition LPs that are “classic recordings” or just very old, interesting and hard-to-find LPs. These records will have a healthy amount of play and visible scuffs or lines that do affect play. The record still plays through nicely; it’s just an obviously much-appreciated recording. Still way better than no copy at all, and in my opinion, still better than a CD. Lots of shine and beautiful overall. This is one of those labels that requires a disclaimer (Crown and King are in this category as well). Score has terrible pressings. They are noisy right off the presses. That being said then this is a VG Score (actually side 1 leans towards VG+ and side 2 leans toward VG- but I would give it a VG overall). There are three much sought after and very collectible Hopkins lps. This is one and the other two are on Herald and Fire. What these recordings have in common is that they are very desirable to collectors and all three of these labels have terrible pressings. Who can figure. They have very vivid sound reproduction but extraneous noise as well. But this is not news to the average blues collector so I will move on. The Tunes:KATIE MAY; MY CALIFORNIA; HONEY BABE; SHORT HAIRED WOMAN; LITTLE MAMMA BLUES; SHOTGUN; ROLLIN' AND ROLLIN'; SEE SEE RIDER; SO LONG; MISTREATED. This is a nice vintage collectible lp. The Jacket: I would rate the cover VG- overall with no initials or stickers but the top and spine seams are totally split. If you are buying this to keep get some good clear book binding tape and it will be whole again. There is also a little ring wear both sides but the cover is still pretty vivid. A nice collectible package that if not perfect is a more than adequate copy of a very rare and much sought after lp. . ! US buyers (lower 48 states), for single lp, pay Media rate $4.00 what Ebay wants us to use exclusively now. Don’t know if I agree with p&h, or Priority rate $8.75 p&h which includes sturdy packing materials. To Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico the p&h is strictly $9.00 Priority rate with all handling charges included. Paypal seems to be that but I guess that is the way I will go. Insurance is optional and recommended for USA buyers. No insurance is offered to International buyers. Postage to international airmail customers out of US will range from $13.50 to $16.50 with additional lps adding $3 to $4 each, up to FOUR lps. These prices are determined by weight and destination. Combined shipping to all destinations will result in a lower rate per item. I sell with a "Customer Satisfaction" guarantee; (does not apply to foreign shipments lost by over-seas postal services: I take no financial responsibility for over-seas shipping); for the vinyl only, not shipping costs. Payments should be made within SEVEN days of purchase or item will be relisted. For USA buyers that use Media mail I would really recommend insurance as you can’t track media mail and I won’t take financial responsibility for lps lost in the media mail.
